The force is strong!

My portrait of my pal and unsurpassed master of kirigami Marc Hagan- Guirey. He has just opened his latest show. In Cut Scene Marc has fashioned 12 models inspired by Star wars each cut from a single sheet of A4 paper. They are a wonder to behold.  The exhibition runs from August 8th-16th at 5th Base Gallery.

Sunday Shoots return

I stopped the  Sunday Shoots project for a break in 2014. I actually had a few weekends off. It could never last of course so in late November I dusted off the Hasselblad and faced the public once more. It's good to be back.

Bake Face

Here's the Billington's #Bakeface campign I shot in back in the Summer for Creature London.It formed part of an interactive event which invited members of the public to share their bakeface online. Boothnation then stepped in to help garner customer involvement with a bespoke  photobooth at the Cake and Bake Show at Earl's Court.

Gabrielle Reidy

I took this portrait of Gabrielle Reidy in February of this year. Sadly Gabrielle passed away last week after a short battle with cancer. She was a hugely talented actor and a warm friend to so many people. I will miss her energy, intellect and passion a great deal. Here is her Guardian obituary.

Kids laugh at Irish Photographer

I photographed these spirited youngsters as part of a global campaign to help children around the world. The Unilever Foundation and Domestos have joined forces with UNICEF to help improve access to basic sanitation for hundreds of thousands of people in areas that need it most. As part of this partnership, Domestos is contributing 5% of its proceeds  from the sale of specially marked bottles in selected countries to support UNICEF’s CATS programmes in the Philippines, South Sudan, and Vietnam, India and Brazil.

He's not the Messiah

......he's a very naughty boy.

I'm showing my age here but I must admit that these words are still amongst the funniest I have ever heard.

Perhaps it's down to the strictures of my Irish Catholic childhood or the fact the Pythons regularly made my father cry with laughter. Either way I am very grateful to them all.

Photographing Terry Jones was a joy. He is an incredibly nice man and  makes a mean Americano.

Davina's ultimate challenge

Davina McCall from our recent shoot for Sport Relief. Aptly named  Davina - Beyond Breaking Point, this year's challenge will see the presenter attempting to cycle, swim and run over 500 punishing miles from Edinburgh to London in just seven days. To support Davina and help raise much needed funds for Sport Relief please click here.

The Turner Prize 2013 React Campaign

For the first time in its history the Turner Prize was held this year out side London. Derry-Londonderry is 2013 City of Culture and was given the honour of hosting the prestigious prize. The React campaign, brainchild of advertising agency Kindred aimed to engage the people of Derry and further afield in contemporary art and to record their reactions. The resulting images formed a city dressing linking citizens of Ireland with the art that showcased in Derry. Seamus travelled for ten days around Ireland, North and South, in a specially converted campervan studio to record the reactions. To see more click here.

The Paperdandy

All hail Marc Hagan-Guirey, known also as The Paperdandy. We worked together to take this tongue in cheek shot. Kirigami is an incredibly complicated version of origami that involves cutting and folding and Marc has created a unique branch of this ancient art. His Horrorgami project presented 13 famous haunted houses, each cut from a single shoot of paper. If you share my love of true craft do visit his website.

Think! Don't Drink and Drive Campaign

My recent shoot for the Think campaign warning of the consequences of Drink Driving. Each poster shows the various people a convicted drink driver is likely to meet, from the arresting officer, magistrate, prison officer, right through to the guy who buys the car at a knock down price. Taxi!

POW!

A noisy and rather fun shoot with three very talented actors to herald the series of live events at Bluewater this summer. Getting reactions like this involves the dark arts. Please don't try this at home.

Tally Ho! Isn't it though?

Now this shoot was fun! Two of my favourite comedians effortlessly embodying the Dunkirk Spirit and their own take on London slang. God like art direction from Russell Wailes and deft copywriting from Tim Garth. Advertising is alive and well.

Desperately Seeking Denise

               

Denise Van Outen stepped into Madonna's 80's shoes for our shoot on Monday. As part of Comic Relief's 25th Red Nose Day Denise is encouraging everyone to dress up and go to Sainsburys to buy a Red Nose.

Shooting for the Bard

Another poster shoot that satisfied my love for drama and strong design. My first for the National Theatre and what a wonderful commission to get. It doesn't get much better than Othello, directed by Nicholas Hytner, starring Adrian Lester and Rory Kinnear. Much respect to Matthew Mifsud for his vision and art direction.

Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me.

 Here's the result of my second collaboration with the lovely Derren Brown and retoucher par excellence Marc Hagan-Guirey. Make up deftly applied by Jenny Kewley. Shot in my studio which, I hasten to add, is not quite as distressed as the shot suggests.

Billy beat my Godfather!

Meeting and photographing Billy Connolly was beyond bliss. His brand of funny has made me laugh out loud for as long as I can remember. Little did the great man know that I had a score to settle. Back in the heady days of Celtic folk in the backstreets of Glasgow Billy picked a fight with my Godfather, the songwriter, singer and novelist Dominic Behan. No doubt drink was taken and by all accounts Billy stumbled off the victor. The fight was broken up by the legendary Dubliners lead singer Ronnie Drew. Billy assures me that he returned the next day to apologise and that the three men remained great friends from then on. Many thanks to Martin at Reader's Digest for helping with the reconciliation.

Sky High

A few posters from my recent shoot for Sky. The campaign also included Sir Chris Hoy, Perri Shakes-Drayton, and a host of Sky viewers and staff.

Bling!

I don't know about you but I thought the Olympics were really rather good. Boothnation's Adidas photobooths in Loughborough and Stratford photographed all of Team GB and many more athletes over seven weeks. Here are just three from the set. But who are they? Answers on a postcard please.

An inspiring ten days traversing the country to photograph some of Team GB's Olympic hopefuls for Camelot.  You just wouldn't believe their dedication. Sadly, I'll be rooting for each and every one of them from the comfort of my living room. Anyone got a ticket to spare?
